No Bake Orange Cheesecake
I love cheese. I usually stock up on mozarella, parmesan, cheddar and cream cheese for my cooking needs. I can go without beef, pork or chicken - but I always got to have my cheese.
Last week, I posted some pictures of fruit flavored cheesecakes, but I did not find an ‘orange cheesecake’ so I think this recipe is quite out of the ordinary. It is also very easy to prepare since it requires no baking.
- 1 1/3 cups biscuit crumbs or crushed graham crackers
- 80 g butter
- 225 g cream cheese, softened at room temperature
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. orange flavor
- 3 1/2 tsp. unflavored gelatin, dissolved in 1/4 cup boiling water
- 1 cup cream, lightly whipped
- orange, sliced thinly with peel
- whipped cream, for topping
- For the pie base, combine biscuit crumbs, and butter. Press into the base of a buttered and lined pie pan.
- Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, orange flavor and cooled gelatin mixture. Beat until thoroughly mixed.
- Fold in the cream. Pour mixture over the prepared base.
- Top with orange slices and whipped cream.
- Refrigerate until set.
The star of this recipe, cheese is an excellent choice for vegetarians because it is rich in protein and being a good source of calcium, it keeps calcium supplements off. In most cases a weight loss supplement is formulated to contain all the essential nutrients and there remains absolutely no need for additional protein supplements.
